We're already into the National Final season and Albania choose its song Sunday 18th December in the final night of the "Festivali i Kenges"
If you didn't catch it, never fear I am offerring DVDs of the show(s).
The first two nights were excellent with a well-produced show with 17 songs in each. Sunday's marathon final saw the final 20 selected from the 34 heard already.
Quite varied style with ballads vying alongside dance, and old fashioned rock.
I've really enjoyed it! My favourite was the slightly old-fashioned "Vetëm një puthje" sung by Edona Llalloshi, but I reckoned "Për ju" sung by Erinda Dhima had a high chance of winning - so much full of everything needed nowadays - a crazy costume trick, a bit of ethnicity, thumping drums, and lots of Sertab - style dance. There was also "Pse ndal" sung by Anjeza Shahini, who represented Albania in the 2004 contest with "The Image of You".

DVDs: Albanian National Final show broadcast on 18th December 2005. The show was recorded directly onto my PC using a Vision-DTV Satellite TV card and has a very high picture quality. However the Albanian TV sound is good rather than great. I have added an motion menu of all 20 songs plus some of the interval acts, so you can go directly to whichever song you want to see and hear. In the voting interval last year's Albanian entrant Ledina Celo sings her 2005 song, and Italian star Irene Grandi sings a few of her hits. The show had no scoreboard - the winner was selected by jury and telephone votes, but we don't see those, but we do see the top 3 being presented prizes as well as the winning reprise.
It was pretty much a marathon show running over 4 hours. To make it fit one DVD-R, some parts of the show have been removed - two ballet perfomances, some children singing, an ethnic band, and an orchestral piece. No performing songs are cut at all. Total Running time 139 minutes. Supplied on a DVD-R in a Library Case with colour cover. Please be sure your DVD player will play DVD-Rs. Most will.
