Interviews
Maja
Suput, lead singer of group Joy interviewed by The
Eurovision Database at Jadran Film, March 7th, 7pm 1999
Maja: "I dance for some singers - I like to dance but I didn't want to sing, but the boys from the group said 'Maja try, lets try maybe we'll be good', so I say I will try."
Geoff: "It's a very uptempo song. Is it the sort of thing Joy does?"
Maja: "Yes, Joy is always joyfull - dance music."
Geoff: "For the younger people?"
Maja:"No, for everybody."
Geoff: "Where are you from?"
Maja: "We're from Zagreb, we're all from Zagreb."
Geoff: "Makes a change, they're all from Split."
Maja: "There are many of them from Split, but we're from here. I'm studying management in tourism in Opatija - first year."
Geoff: "You're doing that as well as singing?"
Maja: "I will try to finish my studies."
Geoff: "Have you made an album with Joy?"
Maja:
"We will make our first album after tonight - we will record
about ten songs and shoot some videoclips - for this song we already
have a videoclip."
Geoff: "When will it come out?"
Maja: "Two or three months."
Geoff: "Tell us more about Joy."
Maja: "We are all young - 19-25 years, before I joined singing in Germany, Italy, Switzerland - singing foreign hits. Now in Slovenia and Croatia we sing concerts, and this is the first time in Dora. Producer and manager is my father."
Geoff: "Thanks, and good luck."
Maja's father, Boris Suput, used to manage Minea before she teamed up with Tonci Huljic, and he was behind "Good Boy", and the stream of dance hits Minea had before the move to Tonika, so maybe we will see more of Maja Suput.
