The English Sides - Portugal and Russia

In the next few weeks and months this page will change to give you the chance to meet again the stars of the 1997 contest. Thirteen of the twenty-five songs have English versions and I intend to feature them all.
Portugal: Antes do Adeus - Célia Lawson

CELIA LAWSON was born in Lisbon in 1974, and is studying languages, music and singing. She has sung in concerts with many music groups, and been a support singer far the most popular Portuguese singers. She also records jingles for radio and television. This year she won first prize in the 34th RTP Song Contest.
THILO KRASMANN, born in Bremen, Germany, in 1933, is one of
Portugal's most established music producers and conductors. This is
his sixth appearance as a conductor at the Eurovision Song Contest,
and he composed scores for TV programmes and for theatre. He is also
a top author and producer of TV soap operas.
ROSA LOBATO DE FARIA, born in Lisbon, is a noted writer, lyricist and actress, author of six books and a writer for TV soap operas. She has written hundreds of lyrics for TV programmes and popular Portuguese performers, and appeared in plays, films and TV programmes. She has worked for Shirley Bassey, Adam Ant, Phil Collins and, of course Alla Pugacheva.

Russia: Primadonna - Alla Pugacheva
ALLA PUGACHEVA has sold over 150 million records worldwide. She has been highly acclaimed in Russia, where in 1991 she became the National artist of the USSR, the highest honour an artist could achieve in the Soviet Union. For her contribution to the music industry she was recognised by the American Academy of Arts And Sciences and also by the International Federation of UNESCO.
The single also features a French version of the song, as well as this English version and the Russian. The Press Pack includes many glamorous photos of Alla, and one of her with husband Fillip Kirkorov, who represented Russia in the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest.
