The running order was decided on 17th November, and there were a few surprises.
Latvia had been expected to take part, but dropped out for financial reasons, and with the knock-out scheme Hungary was given first refusal, but Hungary's MTV is in some difficulties, so the next up was Portugal, which accepted the offer of a place in the contest.
Now there are only 23 songs to take part, rather than 25 in recent years, and the new rules permit the singing in any language, although the song still has to be no more than three minutes.
There will be no orchestra in Jerusalem - the rules now say the producing organisation can decide whether or not to provide one, and in August Israeli TV chose not to. Songs will be performed to backing tracks, but must still be sung live.
