Zeljka Katavic - Pilj

Zelkja in DublinZeljka had her first public approach when she was three years old, when she sang as a solo singer in the children’s chorus of Radio Sarajevo. After that she made numerous appearances on many children festivals in all parts of BH, and abroad as well.

During her elementary school education, she attended musical school at the same time. After finishing elementary school she attended secondary musical school, and studied at Musical Academy in Sarajevo. She graduated on two academy departments - solo singing and educational-pedagogic department for professor.

After finishing her education, Zeljka started working as a member of opera chorus in the National Theatre Sarajevo, where she is actively engaged at the moment.

For the last fifteen years, Zeljka has been developing an exceptionally successful career in pop music. In the beginning of her musical career she sung as a lead - vocal in Sarajevo band called CABARE. At the beginning of the year 1994, she began her solo career in music business. Ever since then, she has been co-operating with many eminent musical authors from BH and Croatia.

Zeljka's new albumIn this period, Zeljka Katavic - Pilj accomplished many successes. Among them, the most important one is her victory on traditional music festival called "VAS SLAGER SEZONE" (Hit of the season), during the war in 1993 / 94. Later she appeared as a guest on numerous musical festivals held in Croatia: "SPLIT 94", "MELODIES OF CROATIAN ADRIATIC COAST 94" and "ZADAR FEST 94". On these prominent festivals Zeljka was the only representative of Bosnia Herzegovina. It is necessary to stipulate the importance of this fact, since these festivals took place in a very difficult period, when Bosnia Herzegovina was in war and when Sarajevo was under blockade.

In the year 1996 and 1997, Zeljka Katavic - Pilj also participated in the EUROSONG CONTEST, as a member of BH team.

On April 22nd 1997, Zeljka had the promotion of her first solo album. It is a project called "BEST WISHES... 92/96", and it presents a compilation of her greatest hits, but also a document about the time when these hits were created, the time when Zeljka managed to hold over two hundred solo concerts all over BH, in impossible conditions for life and work.

At the moment, preparations for new cassette and CD are in the way.
