Elisabeth in Japan
A Japanese adaptation of
ELISABETH opened in February 1996 in the famous Tagarazuka Theatre near Osaka. Since then,
Japan is in a ELISABETH fever. In the meantime, the production has moved to the country's
capital. When the box office opened in Tokyo on May 2, a crowd of 12 000 people stood in
line. The police had to close down the streets around the theatre.
Currently the show runs at the Imperial Theatre, Tokyo.
